People playing Bagh Chal (or "Moving Tigers") street game (Nepal).
Bagh Chal is a traditional two-player board game from Nepal. It features an asymmetric setup where one player controls four tigers and the other controls up to twenty goats. The game is played on a 5 by 5 grid of intersecting lines, allowing movement along these lines. At the start, the four tigers are placed on the four corners of the board, and no goats are on the board. The goat player begins by placing one goat per turn on empty intersections until all twenty goats are on the board. After placement, both goats and tigers move to adjacent empty points following the lines. Tigers can capture goats by jumping over them to an empty space directly beyond. The objective for the tigers is to capture at least five goats, while the goats aim to block the tigers so they cannot move. Bagh Chal has a long history in Nepal and remains a part of traditional culture, although its popularity has declined in recent years. The game is recognized for its strategic depth and balance despite simple rules.
